What's New For CF
Dear Friends,
Thank you for your contributions to the search for a cure.
The funds you raise for GREAT STRIDES
will support vital Cystic Fibrosis research and medical programs
that make a difference in the lives of people with CF.
CF research continues to produce new advances that are bringing us closer every day to a cure.
We have some exciting updates to share with you.
- A new inhaled anntibiotic developed by Gillead Sciences,
Inc called Cayston@ is now available for patients.
Cayston@ offers a much-needed antibiotic alternative for CF patients who battle recurrent lung
infections and develop resistance to existing antibiotics.

- Two investigational drugs that aim to treat the underlying causes of CF continue to progress
in clinical studies.
VX-770 and VX-809,
created by Vertex Pharmceuticals, Inc., have both shown promising results in ongoing trials
with CF patient voluteers.

- We estimate that more than a dozen Phase 3 trials will be completed by 2013 a huge success
that drives our continued optimism for finding a cure.
As you lace up your sneakers in preparation for the GREAT STRIDES 2010, please know that these advances
would not be possible without volunteers like you.
We look forward to seeing you at the walk this spring!
